Peter Croft, Parkes
New South Wales

 

Peter is Chief Executive of the Parkes Forbes Enterprise Development Centre Inc and has had extensive experience counselling, mentoring and training business operators across the spectrum of business disciplines. He has a strong personal interest in promoting economic independence for Indigenous people, and assisting individuals and organisations to achieve their business goals. He has held this position for the last six years.

He has strong links with the small to large business and agricultural sectors and has owned four businesses for many years. These involvements span the farming/grazing, hospitality/tourism/retail and management consultancy industries. He spent eight years as an academic in the Faculty of Rural Management, The University of Sydney and specialised in the Bachelor of Management, Bachelor of Business and Advanced Diploma of Farm Management programs. He lectured across a broad range of subject areas, and is strong in the application and theory of Management, Marketing, Financial Analysis, Management Communications and issues of Human Resources, Gender and Ethics.

He has also trained extensively for TAFE and private training providers in business related disciplines. He was approved by ATSIC as a Business Facilitator.

Peter graduated from The University of Sydney with Distinction and the University Medal and is an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management. He holds a Certificate IV in Business Facilitation, Certificate IV in Small Business Management and a Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training.

Prior to these involvements, he was a banker at senior level with the Commonwealth Banking Corporation.

Specific areas of experience included:

• Consumer and commercial banking; 
• Accounting and lending practice;
• Internal audit and general administration at corporate level;
• Corporate asset management, project management and research.

In community life, Peter is a Life Member of the Association of Parents and Citizens Associations and holds a 20 year Long Service Medal with the Rural Fire Service.
