Australian Festival Signs Lomax

NASHVILLE -- Australian Festival Director Peter Beare today announced that Nashville music figure John Lomax III has joined the Festival Staff, as Music Director. The Festival is set for September 9th-11th, in Centennial Park. Now in its ninth year, the Australian Festival is the only such event held outside Australia.

Lomax, a Nashville resident since 1973, has gained recognition as an artist manager, music journalist, exporter and International Consultant. His latest book, RED DESERT SKY, is both the authorized biography of Australian superstar Kasey Chambers and her family and an insiders' account of Lomax' ultimately successful efforts to secure a U.S. record deal for Chambers, whom he managed from 1996-2001. Lomax has also written a regular column for "down under" magazine, COUNTRY UPDATE, since 1999 and has made 7 trips to Australia.

"I've been fascinated with Australia for over 30 years and am thrilled to help present performers from that part of the world to Nashville audiences", Lomax stated, adding that the Festival will also include artists from New Zealand.

A multi-day, family-oriented event, The Australian Festival consists of 7 key areas - Kids Down Under, Music Down Under, Sports Down Under, Aussie Expo, G'Day Cafe, the Australian Pavilion (& Jackaroo's and the Woolshed).  The Festival features Australian animals, music, merchandise & products & services, food & drinks, sports, games, events, clinics, demonstrations, workshops and concerts.

The Australian Festival will also be hosting the 2005 ANZACC National Conference (including Food, Wine, & Travel Trade Show), the Kanga Kids Walk, and the G'Day Mates Schools program.
