KANGAROOS
SHARE AUSTRALIA WITH NASHVILLE
The
Nashville Kangaroos will hold the 2002
Australian Festival, during Australia Week in Nashville, Tennessee at Elmington Park from
September 21 to September 22, 2002. It is now in its 6th year and is the
largest Australian festival in North America. The Outback Steakhouse is the major sponsor
of the 2002 Australian Festival.
The Festival celebrates Australian and American relations and
focuses on sharing Australian culture, heritage and geography.
Chairman of the Festival, Ruth Freeland said Nashville has welcomed Australians into the
Nashville community and we are looking forward to sharing our uniqueness with
Nashvillians.
2002
Australian Festival offers family activities
including an Australian animal petting zoo by Kentucky Down Under, working dogs rounding
up sheep, the Outback Food Court, Australian exhibitors, theatre, live music and sports
downunder which includes Aussie Rules Football
and cricket.
Giveaways
at the Festival include two return air tickets to Australia and a $6000 opal and diamond
pendant. There are no admission fees and a portion of proceeds raised will benefit
Elmington Park.
A
gala event, CorroboRoo will be held at the
Belcourt Theater on September 21 from 7pm. This cultural event includes a selection of
short, award winning films recently shown at the Australian Film Festival in New York and
music performances by Australian artists.
