Kids Go
Outback at the Australian Festival
September 16, 2002 The 2002 Australian Festival will
feature an Australian Petting Zoo provided by Kentucky Down Under. The Petting Zoo will be
open throughout the Festival for Children and Adults to visit and pet Australia's native
animals. Animals will include kangaroos, kookaburras, wallabies, dingo and an Australian
Sheep Dog herding demonstration.
Kids
Down Under will provide an Australian educational & cultural experience for children
(and adults alike). Visit the Kids Down Under Booths and taste some vegemite, learn about
Uluru (the largest monolith in the world) and hear about Australian Aborigines and let the
kids enjoy games that have been played by Australian children for centuries.
Australian
exhibitors will bring the world of Australian products to Nashville. Australian exhibitors
will help you plan a trip to Australia with our Aussie travel specialist, taste some great
Australian confectionery or grab a piece of Australian merchandise - tee shirts, hats, and
plenty more.
Metropolitan
Nashville public school students recently participated in an Outback essay competition.
The students expressed their interest in outback Australia and their desire to learn about
Australian culture, meet Australian Aborigines, celebrities and see native flora and
fauna. Click here for essay exerpts.
Three
winning entries will receive gift certificates courtesy of the Outback steakhouse, West
End, Nashville. Winners will be announced on Sunday 22 at 4:45 following the
Festivals final ceremony. |
