Not only is Mark Moffatt one of the most experienced and respected producers to emerge from Australia, he is also an accomplished musician (guitar, pedal steel), engineer, and writer.
In 1980, he took a position as director of artist development/house producer with Rupert Murdoch’s Festival Records, Australia’s largest independent record label, with 25% of the market. That year saw Mark’s first nomination as “Best Producer” and the beginning of steady chart success through the eighties and nineties.
At the 1995 ARIA (Grammy equivalent) awards, seven of the fifteen awards went to artists produced by Mark. He has been a driving force in the development of traditional and roots music in Australia, and is continuously featured in reader and industry polls, including the Rolling Stone “Best Producer” and ARIA “Producer of the Year ” categories.
Major international production credits include the Divinyls, INXS, Neil & Tim Finn (Split Enz and Crowded House), Tony Joe White, Stacey Earle, Deana Carter and Brit "Anglo Americana" artist Rachael Warwick. Mark is a leader in the emerging Nashville independent scene, achieving the highest number of independent Music Row chart entries in 2004.
Mark relocated to Nashville in 1996, at the invitation of Ten Ten Music President Barry Coburn, and as director of A&R at Ten Ten until 2000 he worked extensively in the development of Stacey Earle and Keith Urban. He bases his production activities in Nashville and continues to play a significant role in the international growth of country and Americana music.
